How a Dental Bridge Can Help

Posted .

Losing a tooth can make simple things like speaking and chewing more difficult. A lost tooth can also allow the remaining teeth from drifting out of place. Because of these and other reasons, if you have lost a tooth, Dr. Janelle Bacino may recommend a dental bridge in San Diego, California.

A dental bridge consists of a false tooth with a dental crown attached to either side. The dental crowns are anchored onto the teeth on either side of the gap, which are referred to as the abutment teeth.

When you come to Bacino Dentistry, the abutment teeth will be prepared to receive the dental crowns of your bridge. Impressions will then be taken of your teeth so that your dental bridge can be custom made. Once your dental bridge is ready, our dentist will examine the fit and color and make adjustments as needed. The final bridge is cemented permanently into place.

To care for your dental bridge, clean it as you would your regular teeth. Brush twice a day and floss at least once a day. It is also important that you come to our office at least twice a year for professional dental cleanings.

We invite you to contact our office at 858-273-0111 today to learn more about dental bridges and to set up a consultation. We look forward to your visit!
